ABOUT ME
My mission as a Farrier is to maintain long term soundness for your horse, in order to ensure a happy, and healthy life.
I have been working in the field since 2007. I was trained at Mission Farrier School by Mark Plumlee, who taught the principles of Natural Balance. The idea is the trim or shoe each foot individually, and in a way that allows the proper motion and breakover for that foots mechanics. After Mission, I worked under one of Alaska's top farriers, Debbie Avritt, where I got even more practical working knowledge and experience. In addition, my parents are both Veterinarians. I have worked with and attended AAEP, Bluegrass Laminitis Symposiums, and the FAEP conference in Ocala, FL with my Mother, Dr. Julie Grohs, who specialises in Equine Podiatry. I Have also worked with Dr. Rick Redden of Kentucky, and have attended two of his seminars on evaluating and utilizing radiographs of the Equine foot. I continue to pursue any and all educational opportunities that I can.
In addition to providing professional hoof care services I volunteer with a wonderful organization called Equitarian Initiative. We provide veterinary and farrier care for working equids, as well as training for the communities who rely on them in underserved regions of the world. Please look them up and consider donating!
I look forward to providing your horse with the care that it deserves.
